Why Amsoil???
There are many reasons to use Amsoil synthetic oil for not
only your bike,
but Everything!
First: better protection for your engine, transmission, axles
etc... that's
probably the no-brainer part, but if you didn't know... Now you do!
Amsoil,
the company, was started by a guy who was a fighter jet pilot back in
the 60's
and 70's. He started Amsoil around 1972 I think. He knew that the
military
didn't run just any oil in these jet engines and that is what inspired
him.
Personally I run it in my 1940 Flathead and swear by it.
I run tighter than
normal piston to wall clearance and if you know anything about old
Harley's
you know that up until the late 1930's they didn't even believe in
returning
oil back to the oil tank! The oil pump barely feeds the engine oil on
old
flatheads like mine. Hence you better have good oil to feed that engine!
Combine that with the fact that 70 years ago roads sure weren't what
they
are today, so the engine now works harder because you now go faster.
Then too there is the fact that the flathead engine design isn't
really
the best around. It normally runs kind of hot to start off with. If all
that
doesn't stack the odds against that old motor, I went and bored and
stroked it to boot. So when I tell you that this is good oil, you
better
believe it! I normally depend on that motorcycle everyday, so it best be
running flawlessly.
Second: double the drain life on motorcycles, triple on cars.
So while you
initially spend more for the oil, in the end it saves you money if you
run it
for the full drain life. Plus too add in the savings from less
maintance and
wear on your engine, and in some cases the added gas mileage. This is a
major plus for large over the road trucks and fleets.
