Plain and simple.... There is no other oil filter
offered that is this good.
This medical stainless steel cloth filter offers 5 times the flow rate
of any
paper filter.
(yes they filter blood with this stainless cloth, so it's
just fine to filter the blood in your motorcycle!)
There easy to clean and allows you to just as easily inspect what is
going on inside your
engine at the same time. No more hassle cutting oil filters apart to
inspect them.
The filter will also pay for it's self in a dozen oil changes.
5 Times the flow rate
means that oil pressure is equal on both sides of
the filter.
Another advantage of the flow rate is this:
You've been riding your bike and the oil is hot and flowing through the
paper filter
like it should.
Your done riding the bike and the oil cools off. Any particles that
were
suspended in the oil and not trapped in the paper fall to the bottom of
the filter.
Water from natural condensation also forms a little bit inside the
filter and this will help
stop the flow of oil through the paper filter. The next time you start
your bike, the thick
oil combined with the water cause the relief valve to open on the
filter, and all
the junk that had settled to the bottom of the filter goes past the
relief valve
and right back into the engine. Not so good is that?
The stainless steel cloth can be 80% clogged and still flow the same as
paper.
So what is the micron rating of the oil filter?
Test results show that the smallest particles that various paper
material
samples caught ranged
between 9 and 20 microns.
The LARGEST particle that was allowed
to PASS THROUGH ranged
from 56 for the best filter to over 300 microns for the worst filter.
So a
10 micron rated paper filter may be letting particles 50 microns and
larger
through.
The medical grade stainless steel cloth that is used is consistent
across
the entire
surface and is rated at 35 microns, meaning nothing larger than 35
microns should
pass through the material. This type of filter material is also used in
medical applications
like blood filtration. Bottom line is paper filter material can and
will pass much
larger particles than the stainless cloth, and is rated differently
than the stainless cloth.
Either one will filter your oil, It's better to keep the big stuff out
of
the engine.
And of course...You see that little round circle by where it
says S4?
That's a super strength neodymium rare earth magnet that is installed
in the
top of
the filter element of the spin on models, which provides magnetic
pre-filtering of the oil.
Did I mention already that this IS the FINEST filter you can

From the laser cut stainless cloth, to the 600 degree rated adhesive
that
holds the cloth in place (oil temp is normally 180 to 230 degrees, if
your oil temp
hits 600 degrees I would suggest you shut the bike off rather
quickly...)
the housing which is machined from a solid chunk of 6061 T6 billet,
( BTW...the filter housing is rated at 1500 psi, just in case you were
wondering...)
to that trick little magnet, you
can't get a finer made filter to put on your bike.
One look at the
filter
and you can plainly see this is no piece of junk.
Why isn't there an Anti Drain back Valve on the oil filter?
Many filters have a rubber flap over the intake holes that is
there to try to keep
oil in the filter and minimize the time it takes to
fill the filter when you start the engine.
More times than not, that filter eventually ends up with
the same amount of oil
in it as if it didn't have the flap, it just takes longer to drain out
with the flap present.
If the flap worked as planned it would help a little to have the extra
oil in the filter
on start up. However that flap covering the intake
holes is one more restriction
the oil has to pass. Basically in my book it's another useless gismo.
Will this oil filter affect my warranty?
No. Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, 15 U.S.C. SS 2301-2312
(1982),
and the
general principles
of the Federal Trade Commission Act, a manufacturer
may not require the
use of any brand of filter unless the manufacturer provides
that item
free
of charge under terms
of the warranty. So, if you are told by a dealer
that anything other than a specific brand of
filter will void your warranty,
ask
for the statement in writing (you won’t get one), and request that
filter be
supplied free of charge.
If you are charged for the filter, the dealer will
be violating the
Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and other applicable law. This is
a federal law and the Federal Trade
Commission has authority to
enforce it, including
obtaining injunctions and orders containing
affirmative relief. For more info do an
Internet search on “Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act”.
Other possible benefits include dropping the oil temperature
a
couple degrees.
While other companies make false claims about this I will be straight
forward and
tell the you the truth. It dissipates some heat as a side benefit, but
only by a couple degrees.
I have also seen claims of gaining 5 horse power! Ha Ha Ha!!! Come on
...It's an oil filter!
Because of the flow rate the oil pump can return the oil a little bit
better, which might
mean less oil drag on the flywheels, but don't expect too much. However
it might
just help with oil carry-over. (you know the oil that comes out the
engine breather
and gets all over the place.) So there are a few other little benefits.
If chrome don't get ya home, but it can get you laid.....well this oil
filter may have just one
more advantage.....but I'm not banking on that either!
Replacement Parts
Replacement parts are available, just in case you step on the filter,
or
the dog eats it.
From time to time you will want to replace the o ring, although you
will find thats even a rare occasion,
you might loose the spring in the bottom of the thing, and I guess if
the dogs hungry enough and
eats the wrench, there available also.
